Manchester Visit (Graffiti)

Today I visited Manchester to explore Graffiti. I was stunned by my findings. This has helped develop my research for the Identity brief. I found these pieces on Hilton and Port Street in Manchester. Every time I turned a corner on Hilton Street, I was gob smacked by another piece of highly detailed and picturesque piece of artwork. I noticed their was a variety of styles that I found:

Minimalism graffiti - use of two colours, sense of 3D and use of contours to enhance certain areas for example cheekbones. Below shows the strongest pieces that I think follow this style.

Rainbow graffiti - use of more than 4 colours, vibrant, use of bold thick outlines, sense of graphics in the work. Below shows a few pieces that I think follow this idea.

Dark graffiti - use of darker colours, sets a moody tone, often to do with a person or event. Below shows this style of work.

Drawing Workshop with John (Workshop 5)

Today in John's workshop we decided to look at perspective in drawing and what we see. I was quite excited as this is something I am always exploring in the briefs in terms of design. Our brief for this task was to work with buildings and windows and find something that created some perspective that we could build up and add some 3D. My Inspiration Drawing This task really did not come easy to me, I struggled a lot to try and get the perspective and I have never learnt this type of drawing before. I began to get really fed up with myself as I am not a natural drawer and have never been, I couldn't get the hang of it. There is so many elements that I got really caught up. Motion Graphics using Shapes and Type (Workshop 1 Y2)

Context & Research For my first workshop of Year 2 with Sara our brief was to bring shapes, text, lines and colour to our workshop. I decided to bring in some abstract circles with bright colours and focus on a bright minimal theme. I was unsure on what I wanted to achieve but excited to learn some new techniques. In the workshop we was set a brief we will follow to create a final piece: Each comp will last one second We will use effects transitions 1920 x 1080 Pixels 25 Frame Rate Still unsure of what I would like to create, I decided I would learn the effects first and take everything with an open mind. Even if I learn the effects, I can then use the same techniques for a new narrative. After Effects with Sara (Workshop 6)

Context & Research My goal for this workshop was to create the rocket flying off the space ship. However after the workshop I want to spend my own time looking into creating something with a bit more of a narrative that can work with textures and further After Effects techniques to create something more realistic and informative. In the Workshop Today was my final After Effects workshop with Sara. We was given a brief to work with Space characters and/or objects which would be compiled into a final piece that would be included into an animation of everyones work. I choose the narrative of a Spaceship taking off. Originally I was going to have the animation of just the spaceship. Below shows my first visual for this project: I decided to design a spaceship and keep the colour palette very simple.
