Today in my workshop with Stephen, we was introduced to editorial design for album covers. He started off by showing us the basic resolutions for web and print. We made our own custom document for 360px x 360px. Below shows the link to the presetation that I did in this workshop:  PART 1 We then put the margin to 12px and changed the document so we had no gutter. We also changed the grids & guides so the document grid was visible. We went into the adobe preferences and added the 30px for the gridline and 6 for subdivisions. This allowed the grid and document grid to fully align up. We also adjusted the keyboard increments to 1px so that it would snap to the grid and be more in level. I worked with typography, leading, tracking and shapes to create the following based on the document settings above. Today I visited Manchester to explore Graffiti. I was stunned by my findings. This has helped develop my research for the Identity brief. I found these pieces on Hilton and Port Street in Manchester. Every time I turned a corner on Hilton Street, I was gob smacked by another piece of highly detailed and picturesque piece of artwork. I noticed their was a variety of styles that I found: Minimalism graffiti - use of two colours, sense of 3D and use of contours to enhance certain areas for example cheekbones. Below shows the strongest pieces that I think follow this style.   Rainbow graffiti - use of more than 4 colours, vibrant, use of bold thick outlines, sense of graphics in the work. Below shows a few pieces that I think follow this idea.   Dark graffiti - use of darker colours, sets a moody tone, often to do with a person or event. Below shows this style of work.  

Context & Research For this workshop we was tasked with creating something that could be moved using new techniques in After Effects. I initially wanted to create a character. However when I thought about this, I imagined creating something very simplistic that could follow a narrative style. I had the vision of a clock and thought of the idea of an Alice in Wonderland theme (The Rabbits Clock). I did think about the rabbit however I thought it would be fun to create the mind of the rabbit and how his focus is on the clock and the time. The rabbit carries the clock because he is always late, I always find this funny because he is always late yet the clock is always with him and is so large. This is something that I could work with and purposely create a very large clock or multiple clocks to show the point the time is always infront of him. In my second workshop with John, we looked at creating the alphabet with our 3 chosen typography designs from the last workshop. I had designed 3 completely different typography designs so I felt this might be really complicated as I only worked with a few letters last time. Typography isn't something I've been involved in that much in the past as I usually focus more on colour, composition and other similar elements however it was fun and challenging to have a new focus. Below shows my typography designs from my first workshop. The Workshop Typography 1 I started off with my first typography design, this was quite grungy and bold. In every letter, an arrow was present so the challenge in this case was how can I get the arrow to be involved in the typography without it looking too much or out of place. After my few workshops in After Effects with Sara, I felt like I really wanted to try and understand the programme. We have been taught the basics so far and how to use the softwares however I know all the Adobe programmes compliment each other in order to get to a final piece. I decided I wanted to work with Illustration and Animation which is two things I have NEVER done before. This was challenging and I was really nervous to begin with. After having a basic knowledge of the programme of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After Effects, I set myself a brief.
